New CardSS Lab Research: Machine Learning & AI In Cancer Survivorship

Summary

New BMC Cardio Onc paper by Edwards et al. for the Echo-ML project

Check out this new paper from the Cardiac Systems Simulation (CardSS) Lab! This is the first product from our NIH R21-funded project in machine learning-based prediction of heart disease risk in survivors of childhood cancer. Thank you to our incredible collaborators, especially Dr. Lindsay Edwards at Duke in pediatric cardiology and Dr. Eric Chow at the Fred Hutch, our expert in cancer survivorship!

Most importantly, congratulations to CardSS Lab team member Dr. Surbhi Sharma and lab alumna Zih-Hua Chen (MS ’21), who were responsible for coding up our neural network solution! And a major hat tip to our amazing team of past undergraduate and MS-level team members who shouldered the burden of echocardiography image pre-processing: Lahari Gorantla, Sanika Joshi, Nicolas Longhi, Nahom Worku, and Jamie Yang.
