We are delighted to share that second-year BioE student and lab researcher Jamie Yang has received a Mary Gates Research Scholarship!
The primary focus of Jamie’s research is a novel computational modeling and simulation study to examine the possibility that light-induced bioelectric currents could be used to suppress potentially lethal disruptions of heart rhythm. We are particularly interested in studying these new “optogenetic” strategies to avoid or mitigate potential side-effects of stem cell therapy to regenerate tissue following a heart attack.
