NIteesh Kumar Soundra Pandian, BTech, MS (expected)

Niteesh is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Data Science program at the University of Washington. He holds a BTech in Instrumentation & Control with a minor in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. With three years of experience as a Data Scientist at TATA CLiQ, Niteesh has worked extensively on developing high-impact machine learning models to improve search relevance, recommendation systems, and personalization. He has a strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and deep learning research for medical diagnostics. He has also published work on uncertainty-aware contextual multi-armed bandits in e-commerce. His current research interests focus on the intersection of Deep Learning and Healthcare.

Outside of his studies, he enjoys photography, hiking, running, and playing badminton.

Heather Wood, BS, MS (expected)

Heather is a student in the UW Department of Bioengineering’s thesis-based master’s of science program. She graduated with two bachelor’s degrees, one in chemical engineering and another in biochemistry with a concentration in data science from the University of Washington in 2024. During her undergraduate research and capstone projects, she focused on computational approaches involving imaging, optics, and the development of machine learning models. She is particularly interested in leveraging these methods to advance the understanding and prediction of cardiovascular outcomes.
