Kundry Reibel, PhD

CardSS Lab Visiting PhD Scholar

Kundry is a third-year PhD student in biomechanics at Mines Saint-Étienne, France. Her doctoral research focuses on the mechanical characterization and modeling of cardiac atrial appendages, aiming to better understand how their complex tissue architecture influences their mechanical behavior. Her work combines experimental mechanical testing, advanced imaging techniques, and finite element modeling on cardiac tissue.

During her research visit to the CardSS Lab at the University of Washington, she expanded her expertise to include cardiac electrophysiology and electromechanical modeling. She gained experience in computational electrophysiology simulations and contributed to the development of an electromechanical model of the human left atrial appendage, coupling electrical activation with mechanical contraction in a realistic anatomical geometry.

Education:

  • PhD (expected 2027): Biomechanics, Mines Saint-Étienne, France
  • M.S: Biomechanics, Arts et Métiers ParisTech, France
  • Engineering degree (Master’s level): Mechanical Engineering, Université de Technologie de Compiègne, France
